Welcome to Breast Cancer 2000
Breast Cancer 2000 is a Scottish Registered Charity, established in March 2000 to raise funds and raise public awareness for patients with a breast cancer diagnosis. Donations to improve patient care and comfort are made to the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Western Infirmary Breast Care Unit. The units serve the communities of Glasgow and the West of Scotland.
The charity was founded by our late chairperson Doreen Don who was a patient at the Western Infirmary Breast Care Unit where she underwent a mastectomy at the age of 42. It was during this period that Doreen was inspired to set-up Breast Cancer 2000 given the excellent care she received throughout.
Breast Cancer 2000 are very proud of the fact that every £1.00 donated to the charity goes into the charity. Run exclusively by volunteers, no directors receive any payment or expenses thus leaving all the funds to be distributed to where they are really needed.
Having now donated over £948,00, in 2017 our events targeted to achieve our £1,000,000 donations target. We are delighted to announce that having raised in excess of £63,000 at our £1m ball in October, we have achieved our target! We are currently finalising plans for distribution of all funds raised this year to continue making a difference.
