Over the years we have been very grateful to receive magnificent support from the business world.
Martin Aitken & Co, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers selected Breast Cancer 2000 as their chosen charity for a number of years. We are delighted with their ongoing support, sponsorship and the efforts of their staff to assist with the many events that they support and attend to raise vital funds. Many thanks to Adrienne Airlie – Senior Partner, for the sums raised from Adrienne’s completion of the Glasgow 10K and colleagues who completed this and many other events.
Jayne Clifford, Partner at Martin Aitken has raised over £7500 through sponsorship of her many marathons.
A message from Jayne:
Can I just say a very big thank-you to every-one who sponsored me for my first marathon last weekend.
Also a big thanks to all who texted and e-mailed me over the couple of days leading up to the race. It was lovely to know that every-one was thinking of me running in the very hot weather that we had.
Well I made it round and I am pleased with my first marathon PB of 4 hours and 50 mins and 1 second. I’ll try and beat that in Berlin. I just hope that there isn’t an Indian summer on the 30th September.
So far the total raised is £2,900 and still counting….plus all the gift aid that the charity can claim back.
Thanks again every-one, I really appreciated your sponsorship and good wishes……Roll on Berlin.
Jayne also took on the challenge of the New York Marathon on November 3rd 2013.
The run started in Staten Island and courses through the five boroughs of New York to finish in the south end of Central park, on the west side of Manhattan, coming in at a total of 26.2 miles!
This marathon started with simply 127 competitors in 1970, running laps around Park Drive in Central Park, and only 55 actually finished the race! The course then expanded for a one time celebration for the 1976 bicentennial.
The marathon has some large charities behind it such as, Team for Kids, Breast Cancer research foundation and many more. Jayne ran amongst volunteers for these charities, for Breast Cancer 2000.
After Jayne raised £5,000 last year from marathon running, we asked her to become part of the Breast Cancer 2000 committee.
